About Us

Established in 2005, Torque Drilling, based in Pretoria / Tshwane, has conducted work country wide as well as outside of the borders of South Africa with great success. From humble beginnings, through high standards of quality service delivery at competitive rates, we have continued to show growth, also allowing us to convert from a Close Corporation (CC) to a Private Company ((Pty) Ltd). All operations are managed by Pierre and Vincent Niemand. Torque Drilling carries an overall B-BBEE Status of Level 3 (Three) which allows our customers a 110% B-BBEE Procurement recognition. For the past two years we have made teams and drill rigs available to drill only water boreholes to assist both rural and urban households in all areas where the need arises.

Vision and Values

Our vision is to be regarded as the drilling operator of choice in the drilling industry. Our company is based on high moral and ethical standards, with a solid Christian foundation. Honesty and trustworthiness are the cornerstones of all of our transactions. We abide with all legislation and regulations within our industry. We care about our people and the people we deal with. We are proud of our work and our equipment. We demand high standards of workmanship from our employees and have successfully completed projects with several mining houses.

Our Rigs

Our Rigs are built by Thor Drilling from Rayton under the leadership and direction of Rudi Greyling and supported by his sons, Len and Carl Greyling. We utilize Ingersol Rand compressors, powered by the old reliable workhorse, the Mechanical Cummins 400 h/p, 6 cylinder big cam turbo 1070 CFM, which delivers 24 bar consistently. We utilize a unique sampling and splitter system on our rigs to ensure that samples supplied to geologists are free of any contamination. We are able to supply 2 samples ranging from a sample per meter and up to a depth of 500 meters. We have developed a hydraulically operated ‘keeper spanner’ to minimise the risk of injuries, and we have developed a highly successful dust suppression system which substantially reduces dust while drilling is in progress. Our rigs are cleaned regularly and preventative maintenance is performed on them on a weekly basis.

Environmental Concerns

We are a “green friendly” company and work diligently to comply with and conform to environmental regulations and customer requirements so as to prevent any contamination and on-site damage. We plan our operations carefully and strive to ensure minimum disruption or damage to any area in which we work so as to protect the vegetation and landscape.

Once we have completed the drilling operation, we clean up and restore our site to its original state as far as possible, also ensuring that no pollution can be caused through waste materials being left behind. This includes any lubricants such as oil or grease used at any of our drilling sites.

Health and Safety

At Torque Drilling we take every possible precaution to focus on protecting our staff, customers, fellow contractors and others in the vicinity of our operation. We employ a “best-practices” approach to ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety regulations as is stipulated in our contractual agreements with our customers. We attend and actively participate in health and safety meetings held at the mines and/or other sites where we operate. Our employees are also trained in all aspects of health and safety and are encouraged and incentivised to attend regular training sessions and courses on health and safety issues.

Socio-Economic

Torque Drilling has a number of ongoing projects in local communities. We are currently financing studies for a geological student at Tshwane University and a female person of colour in the field of Business Administration.

We have provided water boreholes in various Rural Communities, fitted with environmentally friendly solar pumps, to supply reliable irrigation for vegetable gardens and drinkable water for households.
